Wawona Packing Recalls Fruit On Possible Listeria Contamination

Costco (COST) and Trader Joe's are pulling some fruit off the shelves due to concerns about a possible Listeria contamination. Central California-based Wawona Packing Company has recalled all of its peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots nation-wide. The recalled fruit was packaged and shipped between June 1st and July 12th. Costco and Trader Joe's are two of the retailers that recevied some of the fruit. For its part, Wawona says: "We are aware of no illnesses related to the consumption of these products. By taking the precautionary step of recalling product, we will minimize even the slightest risk to public health, and that is our priority." The food-borne illness primarily affects older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems. After shutting down packing lines and sanitizing its' facility, subsequent tests have come back negative. TheStreet's Julie Cerullo reports.
