President Trump likes to brag that he graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, so its take on his tax reform bill might sting a little. In an analysis of the tax reform bill which passed the Senate, the Ivy League business school found that it would increase the national debt by $1.5 trillion over the next decade, while boosting the economy only a small amount in the short term. “Penn Wharton Budget Model’s dynamic analysis projects that The Senate Tax Cuts and Jobs Act increases federal debt in both the short- and long-run relative to current policy,” the analysis reads.

There are, as I have noted in the past, reasons to believe that the long-term path of oil is still upward, but more immediately there is one dominant factor that keeps adding downward pressure, large and still growing supply from North American shale producers. The second chart, directly above, indicates why American producers are pumping at a growing rate. There are reasons for that recovery, most notably the production cuts agreed by OPEC countries and others including Russia and improving global growth, but those bullish factors are now fully priced in and the effect of that is to encourage U.S. E&P companies to, to borrow a phrase, drill, baby, drill!

Here’s an updated scoop on the strategy, taking into account the possibility of tax reformReutersMitch McConnell leaves the Senate during debate over the tax reform plan on Dec. 1, 2017. For years, I’ve lectured chapter and verse about the wonderfulness of Roth IRAs, and they may soon be more wonderful than ever. The quickest way to get a relatively large sum into a Roth IRA so you can start taking advantage of the wonderfulness is to convert a traditional IRA with a hefty account balance into a Roth account.

Boeing delivered two widebody jets to Middle Eastern airlines and won a 747 order this week, generating some cash for the fourth quarter. Chicago-based Boeing (NYSE: BA) delivered a 787-9 Dreamliner to Oman Air and a 777 freighter to Turkish Airlines. Boeing capped off the week by snaring a new order for the $387 million double-decker 747 from an unidentified buyer, according to its orders and deliveries website. The new jumbo jet order means more work for the Everett 747 manufacturing line, which Boeing said last year it might shut down. A lifelike network of twisting tree roots emerges from the ceiling and branches out into the lobby featuring green, earthy accents, crystal chandeliers and soon, work from British Pop Art legend David Hockney. Not one slot machine is within sight of the lobby at this Las Vegas casino-hotel. With a robust art collection, rooms with a residential feel and an overall romantic atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the city's stereotypical glitz, the Monte Carlo is being transformed from an antiquated midlevel property taking up prime real estate on the Las Vegas Strip into the upscale Park MGM casino-hotel.
Another woman worked at an Atlanta restaurant and says her boss did nothing when two dishwashers kept making vulgar comments, so she quit wearing makeup to look less attractive and hopefully end the verbal abuse. In the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against several prominent men in entertainment, politics and journalism, accounts like the ones these women share quietly play out in restaurants, bars and hotels across the country and rarely get the headlines. Court documents and interviews with the women and experts on the topic show hospitality industry workers are routinely subjected to sexual abuse and harassment from bosses, co-workers and customers that are largely unchecked. "I was absolutely humiliated," said Sharonda Fields, who said the abuse at the Atlanta restaurant began shortly after she started working there last year.
A purely electric aircraft is still in its infancy, pending development of battery technology. The weight of the batteries would make the range of a purely electric aircraft too short to be economically viable.

Bitcoin, which began the year at $967, blew through the $13,000 level on Dec. 6, pushing its market cap to nearly $220 billion. With bitcoin up well over 1,200% this year, it's almost laughable to think that it's underperformed many of its peers on a percentage basis year to date.
