Yum! Brands Tumbles as Diners Lose Appetite for Pizza Hut

Shares of Yum! Brands slid on Thursday making it TheStreet's Move of the Day. The fast food company known best for its Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut brands took a hit after sales at its 56-year-old pizza restaurant dropped three percent for the quarter, when a consensus of analysts expected slight growth. Second-quarter Earnings reported in-line with expectations, while revenue slightly missed. An analyst on Thursday asked during the earnings call about the possibility of Yum Brands selling off struggling Pizza Hut to focus on its other brands, but Chief Financial Officer Patrick Grismer objected to the suggestion, saying: "Things have softened in the last couple of years. We've taken our learnings and we're redoubling our efforts to bring the business back next year."
