AMARILLO, Texas (AP) -- An American Airlines aircraft made an emergency landing in Amarillo after the pilot reported an electrical smell in the cockpit.
A spokesman for the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline says none of the 112 passengers and five crew members was hurt in the incident Tuesday morning.
Matt Miller said Wednesday that the pilot of Flight 1099 from Dallas-Fort Worth to Albuquerque, N.M., declared an emergency as a precaution after noticing an electrical odor. The pilot landed the jet safely at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Miller says the jet has been taken out of service while authorities try to determine what caused the odor. He had no information on whether there was smoke in the cockpit.
The passengers were put on another jet Tuesday afternoon and flown to Albuquerque.
