RI gov picks 3 more for Economic Development board
Rhode Island governor nominates 3 more for Economic Development Corp. board
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee has tapped three more Rhode Islanders to serve on the Economic Development Corp. board.
The independent governor announced Thursday that he's nominating Judith Diaz, the director of community health for the Lifespan hospital chain; Elizabeth Francis, director of the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities; and Oscar Hebert, chairman and president of Atrion Networking Corp.
The nominees must be confirmed by the state Senate.
The EDC has struggled with vacancies following its failed $75 million loan guarantee to former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's bankrupt video game company, 38 Studios.
Earlier this week Chafee nominated Marcel Valois (val-WAH') to be the agency's executive director. Valois served in the same role in the 1990s and is now vice president of the Economic Development Foundation of Rhode Island.
