USBDeview (64-bit) review

USBDeview (64-bit) provides a full list of all the devices currently connected via USB to your PC as well as all previous devices that have been connected at some point. With this software you can enable, disable, and remove drivers for a given device, change drive letters, and access a couple of other related functions.

Pros

Manage disconnected USB devices: If a PC accessory is causing you problems, you don't necessarily have to plug the device into the PC in order to troubleshoot it. Instead, you can use this software to delete the drivers for that device, so that the next time you actually plug it in, it will be treated as a brand new device.

Detailed device report: USBDeview (64-bit) can provide many details about every device that has been connected to your PC at some point. Those details include the device name, serial number, vendor name, driver and device description, and time and date when the device was first connected.

HTML report generation: There is a handy feature to generate an HTML report of the USB devices that the computer is aware of. The list of devices can be complete or partial and could prove very useful when contacting tech support regarding various issues.

Cons

Severely outdated design: Believe it or not, the software actually uses icons that were originally designed for Windows 3.x over 20 years ago. While the software is still usable, it is far from eye-pleasing.

Bottom Line

If you have a device that doesn't behave the way it should, you can use an application like USBDeview (64-bit) to remove it from your computer's memory in order to attempt to fix the problem. You may also find this program useful if tech support asks you to list what USB devices have been connected to the PC.
