Siri May Be Coming to Apple TV

Yahoo Tech

Apple is always working on ways to make both Apple TV and Siri more useful, and now it looks like the company is planning to bring them together at some point. 9to5Mac reports that new code found in the iOS 7.1 software development kit indicates that Siri is going to get integrated with Apple TV in a future release.

Apple is reportedly planning a major overhaul of Apple TV to help keep it competitive with popular gaming consoles that double as video streaming devices, such as the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and also with low-cost streaming dongles such as Google’s Chromecast. Adding the ability to run Apple TV through voice commands would be a first for the set-top box, although Microsoft has already made voice commands a central feature of the Xbox One through its Kinect technology.

Nothing in the code spotted by 9to5Mac gives any indication of when Apple TV will get Siri capabilities, although we have to imagine that it will be a part of the big Apple TV refresh that’s slated to happen later this year. Other reported features for the new Apple TV set-top box include a much faster processor and a new interface that will make it much easier for viewers to flip through the shows they’re watching.
