Air Products (APD) to Introduce New Oil-Based Defoamers - Analyst Blog

Air Products and Chemicals Inc. APD announced that it will launch Airase 4750V and 4800 defoamers at the Eastern Coatings Show in Atlantic City, NJ, from Jun 1-4.

Airase 4750V and 4800 oil-based defoamers are utilized in a wide spectrum of applications, including architectural and industrial coatings, inks, and adhesives. Airase 4750V is a proprietary vegetable oil-based defoamer, whereas Airase 4800 is a 100% active, mineral oil-based defoamer. Both these defoamers, which are currently available in North America, provide a long-term defoaming experience along with outstanding film compatibility.

Air Products will expand its defoamer offering with the launch of these Airase defoamers while addressing the requirements and the foam control needs of formulators. With defoamers based on mineral oils, organic oils, siloxanes, and Air Products' unique Gemini molecules, the company will be able to provide the formulator with optimized formulation performance and lessen the reformulation time and effort. In addition, the defoamers can optimize formulation costs and reduce environmental effects.

Air Products will also feature its portfolio of Dynol superwetting surfactants, which provide both low equilibrium and dynamic wetting and are designed for system compatibility as well as provide little or no foam. The company will offer four different classes of superwetters, each with different attributes based on the nature of the superwetting surfactant molecules employed.

The Dynol superwetting surfactants are useful in formulations designed to be used in high speed applications or to wet difficult-to-wet surfaces such as plastics, wood, or even oil-contaminated metals.

Air Products currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Better-ranked companies in the diversified chemical space include LyondellBasell Industries N.V. LYB, Trecora Resources TREC and Celanese Corporation CE. All of them sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
