Leading industrial gas company Air Products and Chemicals Inc. (APD) will showcase its gas technologies and equipment at the forthcoming CastExpo 2013 scheduled to be held in St. Louis, Mo., from April 6-9. The company’s gas technologies and equipment are geared to help foundry operators improve operational efficiency and cut costs.

The visitors, at the CastExpo, can interact with Air Products specialists about its comprehensive range of gases, equipment, and technology solutions which include oxygen enrichment and solids injection in cupolas, oxygen-enhanced combustion, molten metal blanketing, degassing, refining and die cooling. Visitors can also get an insight on Air Products' state-of-the-art combustion laboratories, where instrumentation and process control capabilities allow testing of a customer's application to its full potential.

Air Products will also feature its complete range of gases including argon, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen which are available in a number of delivery options to fit each customer's needs. The company will highlight its CryoEase microbulk solutions that provide reliable, uninterrupted supply of oxygen to small volume users and is an alternative to the conventional cylinder or dewar supply. For the large volume users, Air Products offers bulk liquid and gas supply.

Air Products has a long track record in helping its foundry customers improve productivity and safety while reducing fuel costs and emissions. The company’s application engineers use advanced methods for furnace modeling, data collection, and process monitoring to find solutions to problems and recommend process improvements.

Air Products, which has annual sales of $9.6 billion, offers industrial gases as well as a variety of polymer and performance chemicals and serves technology, energy, industrial and health care customers globally. The company offers unique combustion options for a vast range of furnace types and metals which help optimize the melting and casting processes of iron, steel, and non-ferrous foundries.

Air Products benefits from a diverse customer base, sustained pricing power and cost-reduction measures. New business deals and strategic investments are expected to support its results in fiscal 2013.

However, volume in Air Products’ core Merchant Gases segment is expected remain under pressure partly due to the recessionary conditions in Europe. The electronics business may continue to see weak demand.
