Apple Watch, Greece, earnings from Facebook and Google: What to watch next week

With another week in the books it’s time to take a look at what might be making news next week. Yahoo Finance's Midday Movers panel weighed in:

Jen Rogers - Greece
One week from today, April 24, is the next deadline in the seemingly endless Greek debt epic. “We had Keith Bliss from the New York Stock Exchange telling us ‘you gotta pay attention to that’...we’re seeing it to start to percolate again,” Rogers says.

Yahoo Finance Senior Columnist Michael Santoli notes that the latest news today suggests that Greece’s creditors aren’t talking about kicking Greece out of the European Union so fears won’t revolve around a “Grexit” but rather how ugly all the wheeling and dealing will actually get.

Andy Serwer - Apple Watch
As European finance ministers furrow their collective brows next Friday Apple (AAPL) will begin delivering the much anticipated Apple Watch. The must-have gadget now has a long waiting list but those lucky enough to have gotten their order in early will start unboxing the wrist worn computer on or about the original launch date. Some, it seems, couldn’t wait. Hollywood director JJ Abrams was caught wearing one already and it seems reasonable that other celebs may be caught wearing short sleeves to show off the watch over the next week.

Mike Santoli - Earnings
With the big banks behind us next week will be about several big tech names as companies like Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN) and Google (GOOGL) all report Q1 earnings. “It’s not so much what are they going to report,” says Santoli given that companies have lowered expectations enough to beat estimates on average for 23 straight quarters. “It’s always the way the tape kind of absorbs these things because the pattern has been the back half of April has tended to be strong and if we’re following that kind of pattern, as we have for most of this year, it seems like people maybe got their expectations low enough.”

Here is what analysts expect from some of next weeks big names:

Facebook reports after the closing bell next Wednesday. Analysts expect earnings of 40 cents a share on $3.56 billion in revenue.

Amazon reports after the close next Thursday with the street calling for a loss of 11 cents a share on $22.43 billion in revenue.

Google will release Q1 numbers next Thursday as well with analysts looking for earnings of $6.60 a share on $17.58 billion in revenue.

Finally, one big non-tech name set to report is McDonald's (MCD). The struggling fast food giant will release their earnings before the open on Wednesday. It is the first such report under new CEO Stephen Easterbrook.
