Barbershops Across the U.S. Shave the Date for Movember 2015

November 1 Marks the Launch of the Global Charity's Campaign Where Men Grow Moustaches and Both Men and Women MOVE for 30 Days

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - October 27, 2015) - In just five days, the official Movember 2015 campaign will launch with "Shave the Date," the day men all over the world will start clean shaven and begin growing spectacular moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. This year, men and women can also participate by signing up to MOVE, the Movember Foundation's 30-day fitness challenge that invites participants to carry out 30 physical activities in 30 days.

The Movember Foundation, one of the largest global men's health charities investing in programs to address prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health, and physical inactivity, will officially kick off the 2015 campaign this week with a series of Shave the Date events throughout the U.S. In Los Angeles, attendees can sign up at www.Movember.com for a complimentary shave on October 29 at the Movember & Co. Barbershop. On October 30, Harry's affiliated barbershops throughout the U.S., including Harry's Corner Shop in New York City, will hold Movember shave downs and will also be handing out free limited edition Harry's x Movember razors. For more information about events in your area visit: us.Movember.com/events.

"The moustache continues to be an iconic way for Movember participants to encourage dialogue on men's health. The moustache is the catalyst for these conversations starting with our annual Shave the Date events," said Mark Hedstrom, U.S. Director at the Movember Foundation. "During the 30 days of Movember, we ask men and women all over the world to Grow, Give or MOVE to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives."

Everyone is encouraged to sign up now at Movember.com to grow a moustache, commit to MOVE or to take things to the next level by doing both! On Movember 1, men will start clean-shaven and grow only a moustache for 30 days, while men and women can kick off their MOVE challenge. Both are encouraged to get friends, family and colleagues to donate to their moustache-growing or MOVE efforts.

The Movember Foundation also announced this year the launch of Making Connections -- a major mental health initiative focused on men and boys' mental well-being. Making Connections has partnered with local organizations in 16 cities across the U.S. and has awarded more than $2MM to multi-sector community programs to develop prevention-based plans in high-need, underserved communities all across the U.S., such as veterans and men/boys of color.

The Foundation believes there is no good health without good mental health and Making Connections marks the first of many mental health specific programs the Foundation will invest in and support in the U.S. Making Connections, which was developed in conjunction with the Prevention Institute, is unique in that it focuses on prevention as the primary strategy, rather than treating or alleviating its consequences, with the hope of shifting the national dialogue around mental well-being for men and boys.

About the Movember Foundation

The Movember Foundation is a global charity raising funds and awareness for men's health. These funds deliver breakthrough research and support services to allow men to live longer, healthier, happier lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men's health movement, raising more than $650 million and funding over 1,000 programs through impact investments, focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. The Foundation runs awareness and fundraising activities year-round, with the annual Movember campaign in November being globally recognized for its fun and innovative approach to raising money and getting men to take action for their health. During Movember, we challenge men to grow a moustache or to make a commitment to get active and MOVE, both of which are about real action for health and are done to spark conversation and raise vital funds and awareness. The Foundation's vision is to have an everlasting impact on men's health.
