China auto sales down-shift

General Motors (GM) and other foreign carmakers gained share in China in June, but the gains came amid slowing growth in the world's largest auto market. Passenger car sales in China rose 11.5% to 1.56 mil vehicles vs. the same month a year ago, down from May's 13.9% rise. Volkswagen (VLKAY), Ford (F), GM and other foreign makers gained share, while domestic companies' share slid 3.5 percentage points to 37.7%. Total vehicle sales grew 5.2% to 1.85 mil units. GM shares rose 1% to 37.97. Volkswagen fell 0.4% to 50.05 and Ford rose 1.9% to 17.43.
