Index, ETF option volumes near midday

Total options volume remains is about normal, with 6.1 million contracts traded so far this morning.

The SPDR S&P 500 (NYSEArca:SPY) tops the action in the Index and ETPs. It has 700,000 options trade with 445,000 puts. The S&P 500 Index (NasdaqGS:SPX) is the top Index with 313,000 contracts, and a put-to-call ratio of 3 to 1.

The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (NYSEArca:EEM) has 240,000 options trade, slightly more puts than calls. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (NasdaqGM:QQQ) has 183,000, puts outpacing calls by more than 2 to 1. Not far behind are the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (NYSEArca:IWM) options with 150,000 and a similar put-to-call ratio.

The United States Oil Fund has 95,000 options traded, 76,000 of which are calls. The SPDR Materials Fund (XLB) has 86,000, and less than 2,000 of those are calls.
