John Paulson (Trades, Portfolio) is the president and portfolio manager of Paulson & Co. Inc. He manages a portfolio composed of 92 stocks with a total value of $9,119 million. In both the second quarter and third quarter, the guru increased his positions in the following stocks:


Aradigm Corp. (ARDM)

During the second quarter, the guru increased his stake by 235.18% and by 122.93% in the third quarter. The guru holds 0.98% of outstanding shares of the company, which is a specialty pharmaceutical company engaged in the development and commercialization of drugs delivered by inhalation for the prevention and treatment of severe respiratory diseases.

Third-quarter revenue was $50,000 compared with $4.7 million in revenue in the third quarter of a year before, and total operating expenses were $7.3 million, compared with total operating expenses of $10.2 million for the same quarter of 2015.

First Eagle Investment (Trades, Portfolio) is the largest shareholder among the gurus with 25.78% of outstanding shares followed by Steven Cohen (Trades, Portfolio) with 2.14%.

ITC Holdings Corp. (ITC)

During the second quarter, the investor increased his stake by 111.44%. He added an additional 7.04% in the third quarter, and now he holds 0.06% of outstanding shares of the company, which along with its subsidiaries is engaged in transmission of electricity in the U.S.

Its business consists of the operations of its Regulated Operating Subsidiaries, ITCTransmission, METC, ITC Midwest and ITC Great Plains. Recently Fortis Inc. (FTS) and GIC Private Ltd. announced the closing of the approximately $11.3 billion acquisition of Novi, Michigan-based ITC Holdings Corp.

Ingram Micro Inc. Class A (IM)

During the second quarter, the guru increased his stake by 363.57% and again added 7.55% in third quarter. The guru holds 0.1% of outstanding shares of the company, which is the information technology wholesale distributor providing sales, marketing and logistics services for the IT industry internationally.

Third-quarter GAAP operating income was $137 million, or 1.34% of revenue, compared to 2015 third-quarter GAAP operating income of $119 million, or 1.14% of revenue and GAAP earnings per diluted share were 52 cents compared to GAAP earnings per diluted share of 42 cents in the same quarter of the prior year.

Donald Smith (Trades, Portfolio) is the largest shareholder among the gurus, with 3.95% of outstanding shares followed by Grantham with 1.15%, Simons with 0.31%, Charles Brandes (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.23%, John Buckingham (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.11%, Third Avenue Management (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.07%, Joel Greenblatt (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.04%, Mario Gabelli (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.03% and David Dreman (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.01%.

Boston Scientific Corp. (BSX)

During the second quarter, the guru increased his stake by 27.03%. He added an additional 336.17% in the third quarter and now he holds 0.03% of outstanding shares of the company, which is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices that are used in a range of interventional medical specialties.

Recently the company announced the close of its acquisition of certain manufacturing assets and capabilities of the Neovasc Inc. (NVC). Third quarter sales grew 11%, and organic revenue grew 9%. GAAP earnings were 17 cents per share compared to the company's guidance range of 13 cents to 15 cents per share.

Loxo Oncology Inc. (LOXO)

During the second quarter, the investor increased his stake by 11.09% and then raised it by 194.37% in the third quarter. The guru holds 3.4% of outstanding shares of the company, which is a development stage company. The company develops small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of cancer in genetically defined patient populations.

Third-quarter net loss was $17.7 million compared to $8.8 million in the same quarter of a year before and general and administrative expenses were $3.7 million compared to $2.6 million for the same quarter of the prior year.

Facebook Inc. Class A (FB)

During the second quarter, the guru increased his stake by 228.18% and by 47.30% in the third quarter. The guru currently holds 0.01% of outstanding shares of the company, which operates a social networking Web site. The company's products are Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Oculus. Its products enable people to connect and share through mobile devices and personal computers.

Third quarter daily active users (DAUs) grew 17% from the same quarter of a year before and cash and cash equivalents and marketable securities were $26.14 billion.

The largest shareholder among the gurus is Andreas Halvorsen (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.65% of outstanding shares followed by Spiros Segalas (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.32%, Steve Mandel (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.22%, Daniel Loeb (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.19%, John Griffin (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.12%, Manning & Napier Advisors Inc. with 0.11% and Cohen with 0.08%.

American Capital Ltd. (ACAS)

During the second quarter the investor increased his stake by 6.29% and in the third quarter increased it by 2.52%. The guru holds 2% of outstanding shares of the company, which is an asset management and private equity firm. The company originates, underwrites and manages investments in the middle market private equity, leveraged finance, real estate, energy and structured products.

The largest shareholder among the gurus is Paul Singer (Trades, Portfolio) with 5.77% of outstanding shares followed by Gabelli with 0.02% and Murray Stahl (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.01%.

Biogen Inc. (BIIB)

During the second quarter, the guru increased its stake 3.97% and increased it by 150.20% in the third quarter. The guru currently holds 0.14% of outstanding shares of the stock, which is a biopharmaceutical company. The company discovers, develops, manufactures and markets therapies for neurological, autoimmune and hematologic disorders. Total revenue grew 6% from the same quarter of prior year, GAAP net income increased 7%, and GAAP diluted earnings per shares grew 13% from the third quarter of a year before.

PRIMECAP Management is the largest shareholder among the gurus with 7.21% of outstanding shares followed by Vanguard Health Care Fund with 1.73%, Frank Sands (Trades, Portfolio) with 1.28%, Halvorsen with 1%, Segalas with 0.42%, First Eagle Investment with 0.21% and Sarah Ketterer (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.19%.
