Katy Perry, 'Anchorman' Ron Burgundy lead performers at MTV EMAs


LOS ANGELES, Oct 10 (Reuters) - American pop singer KatyPerry and comedian Will Ferrell's fictional news anchor RonBurgundy will lead stars performing and appearing at the MTVEurope Music Awards, the network said on Thursday, as it seeksto attract a larger U.S. audience for the awards this year.

Perry will sing her new song "Unconditionally" from herupcoming album "Prism" at the awards ceremony held in the ZiggoDome in Amsterdam on Nov. 10. The singer also landed two EMAnominations, including best female artist.

Ron Burgundy, the suave mustachioed TV anchor of upcomingcomedy "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," will make specialappearances during the awards show, reporting from variouslandmarks in the Dutch capital.

The MTV EMAs is the network's awards ceremony to honor musicartists from around the world, and it follows a similar model tothe network's U.S. annual awards shows, the Movie Awards and theVideo Music Awards.

Singer Justin Timberlake and rapper-producer duo Macklemore& Ryan Lewis lead the EMA nominations this year with five nodseach, including best male artist for Timberlake and best new actfor Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Pop singers Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and R&Bsinger-producer Robin Thicke garnered four nods each.

Viacom Inc.'s youth-orientated MTV hopes to enticea larger U.S. audience to watch the EMAs this year by airing ita few hours after the live show, which will be broadcast liveoutside of the United States across MTV's 60-plus channelsaround the world.

U.S. fans can also vote with international fans incategories including best song, female and male acts, andbiggest fans.
