Macom Auto Tech to Predict Future
Leading analog semiconductor solutions provider, M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) recently introduced a new technology titled RoadScape to facilitate vehicle manufacturers across the globe to develop end-user applications for significant fuel savings and reduction in emissions.
Macom’s new innovative technology, which is intended to create location and situational awareness, is likely to revolutionize the automotive and transportation industry. RoadScape provides the first such facility of “predicting the future” for industrial and commercial vehicles, by providing precise information related to position, direction and time. RoadScape also generates Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (:ADAS) data, which can rightly predict useful information such as the slope and curvature of the road ahead. This prediction enables vehicle users to switch off accessories that consume fuel and reduce fuel emissions.
The RoadScape technology is currently offered by the company in RoadScape GPS and RoadScape electronic Horizon (eHorizon) solution sets. Both RoadScape GPS and RoadScape eHorizon will provide accurate geo-location information which will be incorporated in the GPS solution within the vehicle. Some of this information relate to road slope, latitude, longitude, height and speed over the ground. However, RoadScape eHorizon will provide an additional advanced map and electronic horizon processing algorithm.
