Music Publicist Resigns Following Sexual Harassment Accusations

Following sexual harassment accusations by several female musicians and industry figures, Life or Death PR and Management founder Heathcliff Berru has resigned.

Amber Coffman, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist for Dirty Projectors, composed several tweets Monday recounting a run-in with Berru a few years ago. Following her tweets, others stepped forward saying they had similar experiences with him over the years.

Bethany Cosentino, Best Coast frontwoman, took to Twitter to thank Coffman for speaking up, saying she had had a similar experience.

Empire Music’s Christy Merriner also stepped up and said she had also been victimized by sexual harassment.

“Sadly had a similar hb experience years ago in Brooklyn. Sexual harassment is a serious issue, thank you for speaking up,” Merriner said in a tweet.

Life or Death announced Tuesday that Berru had stepped down as CEO.

“We take these allegations very seriously,” a statement from the company said. “The men and women who make up this company do not, and will not, condone or tolerate any conduct described in the on-line postings. Life Or Death is 3 men and 3 women who are committed to promoting art and serving the clients that we’re so privileged to represent. We are taking measures to ensure that the alleged behavior did not, and will not, make its way into company operations or impact our commitment to promoting art and assisting our clients.”
