Short Interest in 3D Printing Stocks Rises

Short interest during the two-week period ending November 15 rose on three of the four 3D printing stocks we follow. Trading was more active, with days to cover falling on shares in all four companies.

Short interest in 3D Systems Corp. (DDD) slipped by 1.7% to 27.25 million shares. Some 25.7% of the company's float was short. Days to cover fell from 11 to seven. In the two-week short interest period, the share price rose by 1.1%. The stock's 52-week trading range is $6.00 to $19.76, and shares closed at $14.88 on Friday, down about 1.6% on the day.

Stratasys Ltd. (SSYS) saw short interest rise by 5.5% in the first two weeks of November to about 7.3 million shares, or 15% of the company's float. Days to cover fell from 10 to four. The share price pulled back by about 5.5% in the two-week period, and the stock closed at $19.02 on Friday, down about 0.8% on the day, in a 52-week range of $14.48 to $30.46.

Short interest in The ExOne Co. (XONE) rose by 1.6% to 2.38 million shares. About 22.1% of the company's shares were short. ExOne's share price fell by nearly 13% in the two weeks. The stock's 52-week range is $6.60 to $16.15, and shares closed at $11.11 on Friday, down about 0.7% for the day. Days to cover fell from 17 to 13.

Short interest in Voxeljet A.G. (VJET) increased by 1.3% to 588,645 American depositary shares, with days to cover falling from 14 to 10. The share price fell by nearly 14% in the two weeks to November 15. The stock closed at $3.74 on Friday, up about 1.1% for the day, in a 52-week range of $3.50 to $6.50.
