‘Supergirl’ Star Melissa Benoist On Why She Was Nervous Flying On Set Of ‘Invasion!’
Melissa Benoist admitted to feeling nervous while filming her aerial stunts on the set of this week’s much talked about crossover event between “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Benoist — who plays Kara Danvers/Supergirl — revealed that she was a little uneasy flying in front of all the actors from the three other DC Comics shows on The CW. “I’m usually in the comfort zone of my own set, where we have a system down. So to do it in front of all these people in a different place, I was nervous,” Benoist said. “It took a little dialing-in to get it down.”
Although the 28-year-old actress admitted in a behind-the-scenes interview for the crossover event, that she had “few really awkward attempts” before she finally nailed her first aerial stunt for the crossover, her co-stars were all cool about it. “I did kind of fall on my butt a little bit in front of everyone, but it was fun,” Benoist said. “It was a supportive atmosphere.”
As seen in tonight’s episode of “Supergirl,” Barry (Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) hopped to Kara’s Earth to ask for her help in stopping the alien race Dominators from invading their home planet, Earth-1.
The Girl of Steel arrives on Earth-1 in tomorrow’s episode of “The Flash,” where she receives a warm welcome from the majority of the superheroes in that universe. “[Kara] had good interactions with almost everyone [in the crossover event],” Benoist said during The CW superheroes panel at Entertainment Weekly PopFest last month. “I think Kara just wants to be accepted … like a part of the cool kids.”
The crossover event, titled “Invasion!,” continues in this week’s episode of “The Flash” (Tuesday, Nov. 29), “Arrow” (Wednesday, Nov. 30) and “Legends of Tomorrow” (Thursday, Dec. 1). All three shows air at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
