Teleflex Collaborates with HealthTrust for ARROW Devices - Analyst Blog

Teleflex Incorporated (TFX) recently announced a strategic agreement with HealthTrust covering PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) and tip location devices.

Under the terms of this agreement, members of HealthTrust will gain access to the entire range of Teleflex’s ARROW PICC and tip location devices, which includes the ARROW PICC with Chlorag+ard Technology and the ARROW VPS Vascular Positioning System.

The ARROW PICC with Chlorag+ard Technology can significantly reduce microbial colonization and thrombus accumulation on catheter surfaces. Also, as demonstrated in a peer-based study, this technology can result in more than 88% reduction in PICC-related bloodstream infections.

The ARROW VPS Vascular Positioning System, on the other hand, is a combination of two technologies. The VPS Stylet combined with VPS Console can provide real-time catheter tip location information, with the help of the patient’s physiological (cardiac electrical activity and blood flow) information.

The ARROW VPS Vascular Positioning System is particularly designed to prevent clinical consequences such as thrombosis, arterial puncture and vessel wall damage.

We note that Teleflex remains focused on expanding its long-term prospects through such strategic partnerships.

In 2014, Teleflex had announced an agreement with Premier, Inc. for the former’s ARROW Dialysis Access portfolio. The three-year pact is aimed at popularizing and enhancing the dialysis portfolio of Teleflex. The agreement will entitle hospitals to the right to access future dialysis product releases, such as the ARROW-Clark VectorFlow Chronic Hemodialysis Catheter.

Teleflex has also signed a strategic partnership deal with Amerinet, under which the latter’s members will have access to a range of Teleflex’s handheld and laparoscopic surgical instruments, including Pilling and KMedic products at competitive rates.

We believe these alliances will help Teleflex to gain better market traction and subsequently improve its top-line growth, besides fighting off competition from the likes of CareFusion (CFN), Covidien (COV) and CR Bard (BCR).

Teleflex currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
