Ultra Small Diodes by Macom

Leading analog semiconductor solutions provider, M/A-Com Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. (MTSI), recently introduced a new family of broadband Shunt PIN Diodes to strengthen its leading position in the diodes industry.

The new product line is most suitable for customers looking for high-power diode solutions at low costs and minimum space with ultra-size dimensions of 1.5x1.2 mm. Shunt PIN Diodes are available in ultra-small plastic packages and reduces board space without compromising on performance to provide similar efficiency levels as compared to chip-scale devices.

Shunt PIN Diodes can be used for high-power switching appliances like land mobile radio, wireless infrastructure and test instrument applications.
Macom recently reported its second quarter fiscal 2013 results, wherein its revenue soared to $77.8 million compared with $75 million in the year-ago quarter. Also, its adjusted earnings per share (EPS) increased 20% to 24 cents compared with the prior-year quarter.

Headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, Macom’s semiconductor solutions are used in radio frequency (RF), microwave, and millimeter wave applications. Some of its key products are Passive Components, Active Components, Diodes, Switches and Multi-Chip Modules, which are used in varied markets ranging from optical communications, medical, mobile devices, wireless infrastructure to aerospace and defense. This ISO9001 international quality standard certified company has design and manufacturing offices throughout North America, Australia, Europe and Asia.

Macom currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Some other stocks within the industry worth a look are MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation (MX), Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) and Semtech Corporation (SMTC), each with a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
