ARDSLEY, N.Y. (AP) _ Acorda Therapeutics Inc. (ACOR) on Wednesday reported a loss of $13.9 million in its third quarter.

The Ardsley, New York-based company said it had a loss of 29 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 17 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 15 cents per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $142.8 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $84.7 million.

Acorda shares have dropped 19 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 35 percent in the last 12 months.
