Adam Lowry scores quickest goal in Jets playoff history

The Winnipeg Jets came out firing on all cylinders Thursday evening as Adam Lowry scored the quickest goal in the team’s playoff history, putting his squad on the board 12 seconds into Game 5 against the St. Louis Blues.

After the Jets established a strong forecheck, Lowry parked in front of the Blues’ net and remained unattended. Brandon Tanev’s shot caromed off Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington onto Lowry’s stick, and he tucked away the rebound for the early 1-0 lead.

The previous team record was set by Jacob Trouba, who scored 31 seconds into Game 5 of the Jets’ first-round series last season against the Minnesota Wild. Lowry’s early goal was all for naught, however, as the Jets squandered a 2-0 lead, losing 3-2 as Blues forward Jaden Schwartz scored his first goal of the playoffs with 15 seconds remaining to secure the win.

It was a banner evening across the board in the playoffs and Lowry’s goal wasn’t the only one that helped make history. Carolina Hurricanes forward Warren Foegele also set a franchise playoff record after notching his third goal of the postseason 17 seconds into Thursday’s game against the Washington Capitals.
