The Android flagship that had a notch before the iPhone X just dropped to its lowest price ever

Things have definitely not gone according to plan for Andy Rubin’s Android phone startup, Essential. The company tried to launch an ultra-premium smartphone to take on Apple’s iPhones and high-end Galaxy phones, and it tried to carve out a niche by appealing mainly to hardcore Android fans. The problem, of course, is that hardcore Android fans already have Google’s Pixel phones, so no one was going to buy a $700 smartphone from Essential. The shame of it is that the PH-1 is actually solid phone with a very cool design — it even had a notched display before Apple’s iPhone X! We have some good news though, because Amazon just dropped the price of the titanium and ceramic factory unlocked Essential Phone PH-1 yet again, and it can now be had for just $449.99. That price is beyond fair for this 128GB premium Android phone, and it’s available right now.

Here are some bullet points from the product page:

  • The Essential Phone is expertly crafted using titanium and ceramic, with an edge-to-edge Full Display and uses the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835

  • Edge-to-edge Full Display – With the stunning edge-to-edge Full Display on the Essential Phone there’s finally a large-screen device that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.

  • The world’s thinnest dual camera system – The camera system consists of color and monochrome sensors to capture up to 200% more light than traditional phone cameras. This results in stunning images that are rich in color and detail, even in low light.

  • Accessories that simply click – With the phone’s revolutionary magnetic connector, accessories can easily attach to your device so it’s future-proof and always up-to-date.
