Do not try to overcharge Cardi B.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took to Instagram with a story about a hairstylist who charged her $400 — after spending only 30 minutes to flatiron her hair. Cardi called her out in an Instagram Story in which, we’ll add, her hair looked perfect.

“I don’t like when people try to finesse me,” she said. “Let me tell you something. I did my weave yesterday. It looks immaculate. It looks poppin’.” But since she had a big day ahead, Cardi chose to call in the stylist, who left her hair looking pretty much as it had before.

Needless to say, Cardi was expecting more from a professional stylist than a few minutes with a hot tool. “Shorty just flatironed my hair,” she said. “Didn’t glue my front, didn’t style it. All she did was press my hair with a flatiron.”

The longer Cardi spends at the top of the charts, the more she’ll likely end up dropping her cash on luxury celebrity stylists. All those smiling people you see in celebs’ awards night behind-the-scenes photos? They charge hundreds (if not thousands) in fees.

Oscar Blandi, who styles Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Richie, charges $600 per snip. A cut from Ted Gibson, who has worked with Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway, will set you back $1,200. (And that’s after at least a month of wait time.) Rossano Ferretti, aka “the most luxurious hairdresser in the world,” charges $1,500.

But just because celebrity stylists can charge that much doesn’t mean they should. As Fashionista reports, the four-digit prices are often a marketing strategy to attract attention, which gets regular clients booked into the stylists’ salon for a more normal-price haircut. As with any salon — especially one with a hefty price tag — check the reviews before you get to the chair.

Cardi B has been known to drop $80 and up for a manicure, so clearly money isn’t the problem here. “Are you dumb, or do you think I’m dumb? I hate that shit,” she asks. “I’m still cheap, bitch, and you’re not going to play me.”
