SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Castlight Health Inc. (CSLT) on Tuesday reported a loss of $7.3 million in its third quarter.

The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to less than 1 cent on a per-share basis.

The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.

The online health care software company posted revenue of $40 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $38.3 million.

Castlight expects full-year earnings in the range of 11 cents to 15 cents per share.

In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, the company's shares hit $2.66. A year ago, they were trading at $4.10.
