Donald Trump is now officially considered obese – but is in “good health overall”, his annual medical has revealed.

According to results of the US President’s annual physical, released by the White House, Mr Trump has put on some pounds and now weighs 243lb (110kg).

Set against his 6ft 3in height, that puts his Body Mass Index (BMI) at 30.4 – people with a BMI of over 30 are classed as obese.

But despite the 4lb weight gain since early 2018, Mr Trump’s doctor Dr Sean Conley said the 72-year-old “remains in very good health overall”.

According to his examination, the President’s resting heart rate is 70 beats a minute and his blood pressure reading was 118 over 80 – well within the normal range.

Dr Conley said Mr Trump’s liver, kidney and thyroid functions are all normal and so are his electrolytes and blood counts.

Mr Trump reportedly enjoys fast food and diet fizzy drinks, but doesn’t smoke and says he has never drunk alcohol.

In December 2015, the then Republican presidential candidate released a letter from his personal doctor Dr Harold Bornstein, saying he had undergone a medical examination “that showed only positive results” and declaring that he would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency”.

Dr Bornstein later claimed Mr Trump dictated the whole letter, telling CNN: “I didn’t write that letter. I just made it up as I went along.”
