Investing.com – Electronic Arts stock (NASDAQ:EA) looked like recouping at least some of its Wednesday losses after the company confirmed a modest delay to the launch of its eagerly-awaited Battlefield 2042 game.

“We’ve made the decision to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042. The game will now be released worldwide on November 19th, 2021,” the company’s note said. It was earlier scheduled on October 22.

The stock traded 1.8% higher in Thursday’s premarket as the company’s note on the release date of the video game calmed both traders and fans. The stock fell nearly 6% in the previous session as social media swirled with speculation that the launch might be pushed back to next year.

The company blamed the pandemic for the delay as that held back the return of its team to the studios. It said the team is putting “some finishing touches into the experience” and updates on the open beta will be coming later this month.

Battlefield 2042 is a multi-player game themed around U.S. and Russia being on the brink of a war as climate change leads to intensified competition for scarce resources.
