Fortinet Receives 2013 Hughes Supplier Excellence Award

Award Honors Fortinet's Technical and Business Contributions to Successful Development of Hughes HR4X00 Series Branch Gateways

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2014) - Fortinet®, a world leader in high-performance network security, today announced that the company received a 2013 Supplier Excellence Award from Hughes Network Systems, LLC, the global leader in broadband satellite solutions and a leading provider of managed network services.

The honor recognizes the cooperation between the two companies that led to the development of the successful Hughes HR4X00 Branch Gateway, a key enabling platform that powers the HughesON™ Managed Network Services from Hughes. The HR4X00 Branch Gateways combine the performance and features of Fortinet's FortiGate platform with Hughes' innovative WAN optimization technology, and was specifically developed to meet the demanding security and application performance needs of multi-branch organizations -- from retailers, restaurants, retail petroleum, and finance, to government agencies.

Fortinet's FortiGate platform is powered by its second generation FortiASIC-SoC2, which combines general purpose processing power with Fortinet's custom ASIC technology into a single chip, simplifying the overall appliance design while more than doubling the general processing capacity of its predecessor, the FortiASIC SoC. The architectural advancements of the FortiASIC-SoC2 include 109 million transistors and the use of more advanced semiconductor technologies and design, which enable enterprise-grade security performance at a breakthrough price point.

"The joint development of the HR Branch Gateways involved exceptional support from numerous teams within Fortinet, including engineering, finance, marketing, and executive management," Dave Zatloukal, senior vice president of products and services at Hughes. "Fortinet's technical and business contributions in helping us develop the new HR Branch Gateways resulted in a highly successful launch with clear differentiation in a very competitive market."

Fortinet played an integral role in the development and subsequent rollout of its HR Branch Gateway series by providing best-in- class security that includes next-generation firewall, intrusion prevention, VPN and Web filtering.

"Hughes is a highly respected global provider of managed services and solutions for enterprises and governments, and we are honored to have been selected for this year's 2013 Hughes Excellence Award," said John Maddison, vice president of marketing for Fortinet. "This award exemplifies our continued commitment to Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) technology innovation and market leading ecosystem partners such as Hughes."

Fortinet and Hughes have a strong history of partnership and collaboration. In 2013, Hughes selected Fortinet for its new distributed enterprise MSSP, which integrated the company's award-winning network security functionality with Hughes innovative WAN optimization technology. The partnership further strengthened Fortinet's position in the MSSP space and opened the door to new markets and customer opportunities.
