Germany's Scholz on U.S. subsidies: Don't treat EU worse than Mexico, Canada

BERLIN, Feb 3 (Reuters) - The European Union is in agreement that it does not want to be treated worse than Mexico or Canada when it comes to trade with the United States, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said after meeting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

"When it comes to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, all are for coming to an understanding (with the U.S.) so local content regulations don't create a competitive disadvantage to EU countries," said Scholz at a news conference on Friday. (Reporting by Miranda Murray and Thomas Escritt)
