Hallmark star Cameron Mathison is home and recovering amid his battle with kidney cancer.

The Home and Family host, 50, shared his diagnosis in September in a candid post about his health situation. He revealed that he had a tumor on his kidney that was consistent with renal cell carcinoma, and would undergo surgery in the weeks after to remove it.

Cameron recently took to social media with an update for fans. In a photo of him with kids Leila, 13, and Lucas, 16, he wrote that the operation went “very well.”

“The tumor is gone and I even got to keep 80% of my kidney,” he said. “We are all optimistic.”

Cameron later posted a picture from the comfort of his house, surrounded by gifts, cards, and flowers that he received.

“Unbelievably grateful to be back home after a successful partial nephrectomy surgery,” he said. “It was an eventful 4 days in the hospital, and doing well at home now.”

He also called out his doctor and the hospital for their work, as well as those who sent him their well-wishes. “Thank you to everyone sending prayers, positive thoughts, flowers, cards, stuffed animals, food, love…and kidney beans,” he said. “Love you guys.”

Cameron first discovered the news after he sought help for gut issues. An MRI revealed the tumor, which doctors suggested could have been growing for 10 years.

“I am extremely lucky that we found it early,” he said.

Wishing Cameron a speedy recovery!
