Man eats bloody raw veal heart in front of vegan food festival, thinks the vegans attacked him
While vegans’ protesting meat eating seems to happen regularly, lately there’s been a rise in angry omnivores. The latest pro-animal-product protest took place at a vegan festival in Amsterdam, the first of its kind, where a man stood eating a raw veal heart.
The man was spotted awkwardly eating a hunk of meat that was dripping in blood and fat. He was accompanied by a few people who were were filming his protest and apparently assisting in it, according to the Independent.
The muscly ponytailed man was wearing a tank top with the phrase “Go vegan and die” on the front of it. However, veganism appears to do the opposite of ending lives: Researchers have found that plant-based diets are cost-effective, low-risk interventions that may lower body mass index, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and cholesterol levels. According to a 2013 case study presented in the Permanente Journal, veganism also reduces the number of medications needed to treat chronic diseases and lowers ischemic heart disease mortality rates. “Physicians should consider recommending a plant-based diet to all their patients, especially those with high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or obesity,” study authors wrote.
The offender has been identified as an anti-vegan YouTuber named sv3rige. He posted a video on YouTube of the act, and it has more than 60,000 views so far. In the video, his female counterpart joins him in eating the meat. They appear to be in the middle of the festival. Throughout the 37-minute video, he and his associates can be seen arguing with many angry attendees, and one of them claims that vegans have mental problems because of a lack of nutrients. They claim the festival attendees were physically and verbally aggressive.
sv3rige’s argument is made weaker by the other arguments he makes on his YouTube channel, including that the police are satanists, serial killers are heroes, school is underrated, and vegans are anti-human.
After receiving multiple complaints from grossed-out festivalgoers, the police approached him. He refused to leave at first because there was no rule that stated he could not stand there, but he relented within an hour. Police told the Independent that no arrests had been made.
“While it is of course not forbidden to eat raw meat, it was of course a shocking sight because there was a puddle of blood and fat,” a spokesperson for the festival told The Independent. “Besides, there were lots of elderly people and children. At that time a special children’s programme was going on,” they added. “It was a weird protest by the gentleman. … This festival is about having fun and sharing new experiences.”
This could have been a copycat act; last week, a butcher was filmed aggressively swinging meat at vegan protesters in Leeds, England. And earlier this year, a chef at a restaurant in Toronto responded to vegan protesters by carving a deer leg in the window in front of them.
