Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport receives $10.2M FAA grant to repave 3 taxiways

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -- The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport has received a $10.2 million federal grant.

The Peninsula Airport Commission, which owns and operates the airport, said Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration funds will be used to replace the aging pavement on three taxiways. The total cost of the project is $11.3 million, and it's expected to take a year-and-a-half to complete.

The airport is served by four airlines — Allegiant Travel Co., Delta Air Lines Inc., Frontier Airlines and US Airways Group Inc. — with nonstop service to Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver, Orlando and Philadelphia.
