Is NXT’s Eric Young cool with Bobby Roode’s Predators playoff anthem?

The Nashville Predators have an array of interesting fans on their Stanley Cup bandwagon. There are country music stars. There are Tennessee Titans players. And there professional wrestlers, like WWE star Rusev and NXT star Eric Young.

Just don’t call Young a “bandwagon” fan. He’s been a Predators fanatic for years, to the point where someone created a Preds shirt with the logo morphed into his head.

“I’m 37 years old, and a team I’ve lived and died for has never gone this far in my life. I’ve been a Toronto Maple Leafs fan since birth, and I’ve been a Nashville Predators fan since I moved to Nashville in 2004. I fell in love with the city. Fell in love with the team,” said Young, a member of the SAnitY stable in NXT.

“All aboard the bandwagon, that’s what I say,” said Young. “I know that Rusev has been a fan for years, living in Nashville. I don’t know how much he knows about hockey, but he loves the Predators.”

There’s another wrestling connection for the Predators that involves NXT: “Glorious Domination,” the incredible rock anthem theme song of champion Bobby Roode, is the team’s unofficial theme song.

It’s become a tradition for Nashville to play it before the third period:

So we wanted to know what Young thought about his fellow NXT star getting his music put over at Nashville games, and asked him about it on the Marek Vs. Wyshynski podcast on Thursday.

“I’m willing to admit that SAnitY theme music may not be that good a hype song as ‘Glorious,’” he said of Roode. “He loves hockey. He’s been talking about coming down to catch a game.”

So it’s a begrudging acknowledgment that Roode’s song is glorious for hockey.

Truth be told, Young and Roode are rather close.

“He’s my best friend in the business. We’ve traveled together for 16 years. I probably spent more time with him than I have with my wife in the last 16 years, if we were to add up actual minutes. I know that sounds weird, but that’s the truth,” said Young.

That said, the die-hard Predators fan had a warning for Nashville fans singing along to “Glorious” at games.

“Predators fans, do not be fooled by them using his music: He’s a Red Wings fan,” he said with a laugh. “The lowest form of hockey fans known to mankind.”

Young said he expects he’ll be at Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, but then he has to leave on a European tour with NXT. “I’ll be watching the Stanley Cup Final in a hotel lobby on my iPad somewhere in the U.K.,” he said.
