Construction for the mega cruise boat started in June and it is slated to be on the seas by October or November 2023.

The nearly 1,200-square-foot Icon of the Sea will provide an experience like no other. The ship holds close to 7,600 passengers and 2,805 staterooms. Not only will the ship be the largest in existence but it will also be the most environmentally friendly as the vessel will run on liquified natural gas. Other green aspects of the vessel include an advanced waste heat recovery system, which would turn waste into three megawatts of energy.

As for activities, get ready to experience an adult theme park at sea. The Icon will have the largest waterpark in the water, 6 water slides, 9 jacuzzis, and 7 other pools, including the first ever suspended infinity pool at sea. The vessel is so large the designers split the boat into 8 different neighborhoods. Each neighborhood will have its own identity.

“Now more than ever, families and friends are prioritizing experiences where they can bond and enjoy their own adventures,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “We set out to create a vacation that makes all that possible in one place for the thrill-seekers, the chill enthusiasts and everyone in between, without compromise. It’s this first-of-its-kind combination that makes Icon the future of family vacations, and that future is here.”
