Travelers Provided More Than $25 Million in Community Support in 2018

Company publishes annual community report detailing its charitable
contributions

HARTFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV)
today announced it provided more than $25 million in community support
during 2018. Details were published in the company’s annual Community
Report. Funds were distributed to programs and organizations that
focus on improving academic and career success for underrepresented
students, creating and maintaining thriving neighborhoods and enriching
lives through arts and culture.

Through corporate giving and the Travelers Foundation, the company has
provided more than $218 million toward community initiatives over the
past decade.

taking care of those communities,” said Marlene Ibsen, Vice President of
Community Relations at Travelers and CEO and President of the Travelers
Foundation. “

That commitment runs through not only our giving programs
but also our employees, who, over the course of just last year,
dedicated about 120,000 hours of their time volunteering for important
causes.”

Highlights of Travelers’ 2018 community support include:

  • More than $6.5 million went toward nearly 100 organizations to support
    educational initiatives.

  • Through the company’s signature education program, Travelers
    EDGE®: Empowering Dreams for Graduation and Employment    , 91
    students received a direct scholarship or stipend to help them work
    toward a bachelor’s degree.

  • More than 560 women, minority and veteran small business
    representatives participated in free educational workshops about
    business continuity and risk management through the company’s Small
    Business Risk Education     program.

  • More than $1.7 million in funding went to organizations that work to
    create culturally
    enriched communities     through the arts.
