‘The Four’ crowns an unexpected winner and Twitter is not having it
Thursday’s second season finale of The Four: Battle For Stardom came down to rapper Sharaya J and singer James Graham. Both were original members of The Four in episode one, but Graham lost his seat at one point during the season and had to earn it back last week, while Sharaya J went undefeated in every challenge and held her seat all season. So, naturally, Graham was announced the winner by Sean “Diddy” Combs. The judges - Combs, alongside DJ Khaled and pop star Meghan Trainor - said their decision would be based on the each artist’s whole body of work, which is why the results came as such a shock to fans on Twitter:
somebody explain to my how Sharaya went UNDEFEATED in this damn show but doesn’t win... MAKE IT MAKE SENSE #TheFour

That's it #TheFour is cancelled this whole music industry time and time again keeps sacrificing great artists for a pretty face pic.twitter.com/AOa5BgNXwK

Fans were also quick to mention that Sharaya J has being doing more than just performing this season:
Let’s keep in mind, Sharaya has been WRITING her songs every week. The singers are doing covers. Let’s NOT forget #TheFour pic.twitter.com/iXHi9THJvd

I'm confused. Sharaya writes lyrics, produces, dances and has impeccable showmanship, but we're giving her less credit than James who simply stands and sings. Jesus, what ELSE does she have to do? #TheFour pic.twitter.com/S8QpqYPdIV

Both performers took risks early in the show when Sharaya J did “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G., and Graham took on Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You.” Combs liked Sharaya J’s performance, but wasn’t sold on Graham’s. “I didn’t like it,” Combs said blankly. “I didn’t like it at all.” And even though Sharaya J impressed once again with an original song during the final battle, it was Graham’s take on Coldplay’s “Fix You” that sealed his winning fate. But the best news, and perhaps the most emotional moment of the night, came when Sharaya J gave an update on her battle with stage two breast cancer. “My last visit, when I went to the doctor,” Sharaya J said. “She checked, and my tumor that I did have in my right breast was gone.”
