SEANA SMITH: Dan, I also want to get your take on another tech giant. That's Microsoft. The company releasing its new Surface Book 3. I know you were able to get your hands on it. Give it a review. What did you think of it?

DAN HOWLEY: Yeah, I have it right here, actually. This is the Surface Book 3. It's another one of Microsoft's own hardware products.

The big deal about this is it's a high-powered device in terms of performance, but you can also take the display here and just pop it right off or-- there we go-- and have it work as a tablet on its own, and then this is really where the graphics processing and battery live.

This is an impressive device. It's supposed to go up against Apple's MacBook Pro. It's going to have the same kind of price level as-- well, you can see it's back together now and easy to use. You're going to be looking at the pricing around $1,599 to start and then well into the $2,000s if you really push the performance of it.

But I think this is a system that really is meant to show that Microsoft continues to be serious about their hardware line and can produce products that are really up among the upper echelons of what manufacturers can make, and it does also push Windows OEM manufacturers with the likes of Dell and HP and Lenovo to push their performance and push their designs even further just by showing that Microsoft can do it. They should be able to as well.

SEANA SMITH: All right, Dan Howley, thanks so much.
