What do Tesla Motors (TSLA), Microsoft (MSFT), Boeing (BA) and Best Buy (BBY) have in common? They're all contenders for "Company of the Year" -- a prestigious award determined by you, the Yahoo! Finance reader. The winner won't be announced until the end of the year, but here's a brief mid-term guide to who's leading the pack -- we're referring to the top picks as "All-Stars," in light of tonight's Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York.

Here's how the players (i.e. companies) stack up in the voting as of July 15:

  • Tesla -- 40%

  • Boeing -- 19%

  • Microsoft -- 10%

  • Kroger (KR) -- 7%

  • LinkedIn (LNKD) -- 7%

  • Best Buy -- 6%

  • Western Digital (WDC) -- 4%

  • MetLife (MET) -- 4%

Yahoo! Finance will be accepting votes and write-in candidates until December so don't forget to partake in this highly competitive and esteemed honor. Before you submit your ideal "Company of the Year," remember this criteria: the company should have increased its dividend payout since Jan. 1; grew profits and revenue from the prior year; raised earnings or sales forecasts; has donated to charitable organizations or established charitable foundations.
