The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation to assess if Tesla solution to address a December recall of more than 2 million vehicles to fix its AutoPilot system warnings was good enough. It makes for a good headline—a safety investigator looking at 2 million-plus Tesla vehicles over a fix to a self-driving recall—but investors just don’t need to worry about it. The December recall, which impacted more than 2 million Tesla vehicles—essentially every single one on U.S. roads—was the culmination of an investigation that began in June 2022.

Tesla is looking to make a move above a key resistance level after gaining more than 15% this week following first-quarter earnings. Drew Baglino, who served as senior vice president of powertrain and energy at Tesla, sold 1.14 million TSLA shares for around $181.5 million, according to SEC filings Thursday. Baglino announced on April 15 via a post on X, formerly Twitter, that he had decided to leave Tesla.
