Oct 5 (Reuters) - Britain's National Grid said on Thursday it expects annual earnings per share to be weighted more towards the second half of the year and that the group continued to perform in line with its expectations.

The company, which runs Britain's energy systems and operates electricity and gas business in New York and Massachusetts, said it expects operating profit to be broadly evenly split across the year for its UK businesses, but more heavily weighted towards the second half for its U.S. ones.

The company said it expects 10%-15% of its New York business's full-year operating profit to come in the first half ended Sept. 30 due to a higher non-cash environmental provision charge. (Reporting by Aby Jose Koilparambil in Bengaluru; Editing by Nivedita Bhattacharjee and Savio D'Souza)
