The 2023 Audi RS5 Competition Plus Gets Manually Adjustable Coilovers
Not content to let BMW have all the fun, Audi has announced a competition package and competition plus package for the RS5 and RS5 Sportback. The hardcore version doesn't offer any power boost, but with an available "Quattro sport differential" and manually adjustable coilovers, it seems pretty serious.
The standard competition package doesn't get either of those features, though. It's more dedicated to the look and the theatrics of speed, with reduced insulation between the engine and cabin along with a new "RS sport exhaust system plus" that should make the twin-turbo V-6 sound more substantial. Power stays at 444 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, but the limiter now won't cut off your fun until 180 mph.
P-Zero Corsas are also optional on the RS5 competition pack, but the rest of the upgrades are visual. Competition cars will feature five-Y-spoke black wheels, carbon matte or black carbon accents, Alcantara inside, and honeycomb-patterned leather and microfiber seats.
The bigger upgrades come with the competition plus package. Opt for that and you'll get all the competition goodies along with manually adjustable coilovers. Ride height from the factory is 10mm lower than the standard RS5 and can be lowered by 10mm further still. The three-way adjustable dampers, stiffer stabilizers, and firmer springs should combine for a noticeably sharper experience. Plus, the "Quattro sport differential" is set up to send more power to the rear and increase the car's overall agility. These tweaks help the RS5 competition plus hit 60 in 3.8 seconds, 0.1 seconds quicker than the standard RS5.
To find out if it's actually better to drive, we'll have to wait for it to go on sale later this year.
