Being rich and famous comes with many perks, but COVID-19 immunity isn?t one of them. The coronavirus has affected a number of rich and famous people, ranging from pro athletes and A-list actors to legendary musicians, heads of state and business people.

As with everyone infected by the virus, celebrities have experienced everything from asymptomatic cases to more severe hospitalizations ? and in some cases, sadly, even death. Here?s a closer look at 66 people who have been affected by the coronavirus.

Sports Figures

The impact of the coronavirus on the sports world has been devastating. The NBA suspended its season on March 11 after Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. The following day, Major League Soccer and the NHL paused their seasons, too. The NCAA college basketball tournaments were canceled, and Major League Baseball announced a delay to its season.

NBA, NHL and MLB players eventually returned to action and recently wrapped up their seasons, while the NFL began regular-season play in September. Frequent COVID-19 testing now is the norm for athletes.

Despite precautions, numerous pro athletes have contracted the coronavirus. For example, from June 27 through Aug. 6, MLB reported 141 positive tests representing 111 players and 30 staff members.

Here are some of the athletes and other sports figures who have tested positive.
