HOUSTON (AP) _ Adams Resources & Energy Inc. (AE) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $5.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had net income of $1.37. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 65 cents per share.

The oil and gas company posted revenue of $249.8 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $995,000, or 23 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.02 billion.

Adams Resources shares have climbed 28% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $30.84, an increase of nearly 2% in the last 12 months.
