Alliance Data: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Alliance Data Systems Corp. (ADS) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $107.6 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Columbus, Ohio-based company said it had a loss of $2.13. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $5.05 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $5.24 per share.

The manager of loyalty and rewards programs for retailers and others posted revenue of $1.44 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.

Alliance Data expects full-year earnings in the range of $16.75 to $17 per share.

Alliance Data shares have decreased 18% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 20%. The stock has dropped 40% in the last 12 months.
