RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (AP) — RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (AP) — Amphastar Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMPH) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $36.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the Rancho Cucamonga, California-based company said it had net income of 68 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 88 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 87 cents per share.

The specialty pharmaceutical company posted revenue of $178.1 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $137.5 million, or $2.60 per share. Revenue was reported as $644.4 million.

Amphastar shares have dropped 11% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $54.74, a rise of 72% in the last 12 months.
