CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) — CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Ansys Inc. (ANSS) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $274.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $3.14. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $3.94 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.70 per share.

The maker of engineering-simulation software posted revenue of $805.1 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $791.6 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $500.4 million, or $5.73 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.27 billion.

Ansys shares have fallen slightly more than 9% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $328.63, an increase of 24% in the last 12 months.
