Astrology Says Jada Pinkett Smith And Will Smith Benefit From All That Tension
There’s a lot of information out there about Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s marriage…most of it directly from the couple. In not-so-Hollywood fashion, the two, throughout their 25-year marriage, have been surprisingly candid about the surprises, joys, and trials of their relationship in interviews. They've offered details about their open marriage, and Will's mentioned dreams of cheating on Jada early on in their relationship.
In his memoir released last November, Will even wrote about the period of their marriage where Jada felt she was trapped on the "Will train," compromising her own happiness. Conventional marriage was strangling them, he said.
While the details of their relationship tend to be unsolicited, the couple's oft-discussed tension is crucial to their staying power, says Rachel Lang, intuitive astrologer.
"It keeps them intrigued by one another, while at the same time holding their relationship together," Lang says. Because they each sense discomfort so deeply, they’re able to adjust and readjust to make married life work for the both of them.
"Will's Sun is in Libra, and Jada's is in Virgo. The combination between these two signs indicates a relationship based in mutual generosity," Lang explains. "Libra likes to have balance and harmony in relationships, which leads them to finding ways to please their partners. Virgo tends to have an intuitive sense of what their partner needs, and they are very giving, though they don’t make a show of it."
It's likely their love language is acts of service, she adds, because the other’s comfort is always top priority. "Jupiter is the planet we look to to see whether or not a pair has faith in one another and whether they open doors of opportunity for each other," Lang says. Will's Jupiter is at a favorable angle from Jada's Sun, which allows him to see the bright side when things between them get tough.
His Jupiter is at the the same angle from Jada's moon—another biggie—since that brings them "long-term compatibility and spiritual connection."
"They have a sense of 'anything’s possible' together," adds Lang. "They can support one another’s dreams, and this aspect makes freedom a primary theme in their relationship."
It's probably no surprise, but their passion is endless.
Because Will's Sun is at a favorable angle from Jada's Pluto, Lang knows their relationship is deep and powerful. "The attraction and passion is electric, and they likely felt right at home with one another—as if they had known each other for lifetimes," she says.
"There’s a dynamic energy with this combination, but it can be too much sometimes," she adds. When things get really heated between them, they'll likely have to deal with big arguments and blowups.
But—and this is a big but—since their Moon signs (which represent emotions) are highly compatible, their relationship has staying power. "They can talk through challenges when they come up, and they feel compassion for one another," says Lang. "This also shows a compatible approach to raising children and keeping family a top priority."
Pluto and Neptune allow them to be sensitive to each other.
"Will’s Neptune is in a favorable quintile aspect with Jada’s Moon, which shows sensitivity and shared creative visions and aesthetic tastes," Lang explains. "This is a highly romantic influence that shows compassion and support for one another. It can even show psychic connection—the ability to know what the other is thinking or feeling."
Neptune's doing a lot of the heavy lifting, but Pluto's helping out, too. Because both planets are so prominent in Will and Jada's birth charts, Lang knows the couple has a lot of sensitivity for each other.
"There’s also a strong sense of purpose. The North Node is a destiny point, and Jada’s North Node in Aquarius is conjunct to Will’s [midheaven]," she says. This means there is a driving will to be together, despite their temporary separations or challenges. They are a part of one another’s destinies.
