DALLAS (AP) _ Atmos Energy Corp. (ATO) on Tuesday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $157.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the Dallas-based company said it had profit of $1.38.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.33 per share.

The natural gas utility posted revenue of $877.8 million in the period.

Atmos expects full-year earnings to be $4.20 to $4.35 per share.

Atmos shares have increased 4 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $96.55, a rise of 22 percent in the last 12 months.
