PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Beneficial Mutual Bancorp Inc. (BNCL) on Friday reported fourth-quarter net income of $13.7 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Philadelphia-based bank said it had earnings of 19 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $60.8 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $52 million, exceeding Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $47.8 million, or 65 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $209.2 million.

Beneficial Mutual shares have risen 9 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 4 percent in the last 12 months.
